What is cTrader?

Powered by Spotware, cTrader offers a premium charting solution for professional traders and investors.

The cTrader platform, compatible with various versions, is designed for Forex and CFDs (Contracts for Differences).

Primary Features of the cTrader Platform

cTrader combines impressive modern features in a practical, easy-to-use interface. With customizable capabilities and rich charting applications, cTrader accommodates various trading styles, from active day traders to long-term investors.

Chart Types and Timeframes:

Depending on their trading strategies and goals, traders and investors use different trading styles. Consequently, cTrader offers a broad range of timeframes, from 1-minute to monthly.

Price data can be displayed in various chart types, including Candlestick, Bars, HLC, Line, Heikin, Dots, Renko, and Tick.

The ability to work with split screens is a key feature of cTrader, crucial in today's ever-evolving financial space. Detaching and reattaching charts is straightforward, with the option of viewing graphs through a Multi-Chart Mode on one screen.

cTrader also simplifies sharing your work on social media using ChartShots. Additionally, up to 50 templates can be saved from any version of cTrader.

Tools of the Trade:

cTrader offers over 70 ready-to-use technical analysis tools, including momentum indicators, volatility gauges, trend-based indicators, and volume indicators. Custom indicators are also supported and can be programmed using cTrader Automate with C# or downloaded from the cTrader Store.

Drawing tools are essential for today's traders and investors, especially those focused on price action. cTrader provides a convenient toolbar and allows users to apply drawing tools directly to their selected charts, ensuring easy access to essential trading tools.

Depth of Market (DoM) is another essential feature offered by cTrader. Users can access three different DoM structures: Standard DoM, Price DoM, and VWAP DoM, providing comprehensive insights into market liquidity and pricing dynamics.

Order types are essential tools that traders and investors use to communicate their actions to the broker effectively. cTrader offers a variety of order types to cater to different trading strategies. These include Market orders, Limit orders, Stop orders, and Stop-Limit orders, each serving specific purposes in executing trades with precision and control.

Economic Calendar:

Even short-term traders, such as scalpers and day traders, rely heavily on economic calendars in their daily operations. cTrader provides a comprehensive economic calendar that displays Previous, Consensus, and Actual values for all major and minor economic indicators, aiding traders in making informed decisions based on economic data releases.

Moreover, a News function is available, ensuring that market participants can stay updated with minute-by-minute news from around the globe.

cTrader vs. MT4

The MetaTrader 4 (MT4) trading platform, launched in 2005 by MetaQuotes, is widely regarded as the go-to platform for Forex traders. Six years later, following the release of MetaTrader 5 (MT5), cTrader was founded by Spotware.

Both cTrader and MT4 feature straightforward user interfaces, offer a wide array of technical analysis tools, provide one-click trading capabilities, and support Forex and CFD products. They are accessible across various devices and operating systems. Additionally, both platforms offer a range of order types suitable for most trading and investing strategies.

Notable differences between the two platforms include cTrader's larger number of in-house technical indicators, with over 70 compared to MT4's 30. They also use different programming languages for algorithmic trading: cTrader uses cAlgo with the C# programming language, while MT4 uses the popular MQL4 programming language.
